Digital Differentiation

I know some of us will be curious about my interest in technology.
This is the only gap every educator need to bridge in Africa ( especially West Africa)

And I have taken it upon myself to explore with us some technology tools before our conference in August.Technology is just a tool. In terms of getting the kids working together and motivating them, the teacher is most important.” –

Bill GatesDo not confine your children to your own learning, for they were born in another time.” – Chinese ProverbIn summary, in order to keep up with the future of technology, we must all be willing to change our old mindset into an open one towards innovation.

Anybody online we need to start now
Alot to learn this evening.

Kindly welcome anyone if you are online,I quick reminder of Differentiation

Differentiation is simply a teacher attending to the learning needs of a particular student or small groups of students, rather than teaching a class as though all individuals in it were basically alike.Today we are exploring one of my favorite topics: Digital Differentiation.

Differentiation is a big world in teaching, but it is often easier said than done.

Let’s discover ways to use our favorite Google tools to level the playing field and make differentiation a reality in your classroom.

Once again welcome to the class

Digital Differentiation

What is digital differentiation
According to Susan, digital differentiation is all about designing and facilitating student driven learning experiences that are fuelled by standard based essential questions and powered by digital tools to provide students with flexible learning paths for success.Acknowledging that students learn on different timetables, and that they differ widely in their ability to think abstractly or understand complex ideas, is no different than acknowledging that students at any given age aren’t all the same height. It is not a statement of worth but of reality.

Differentiation is important in the classroomDifferentiation is classroom practice that looks eyeball to eyeball with the reality that kids differ, and the most effective teachers do whatever it takes to hook the whole range of kids on learning.Pls try to watch the video to the end to understand why full technology should be embraced in the classroom

Not projector ans smart board.

Not to the negative one

Let me ask
Why are students not allowed to come to school with phone expecially secondary school

Sadly they research assignments on phone at home 😆🤣😂😹😆🤣😂😹😆🤣😂Let’s discuss digital differentiation using G Suite and why this is such a hot topic.

It’s like I’m the only one online oooooooo

Educator are we awake ⏰BACK TO TODAY’S CLASSThis student-centered teaching strategy helps us reach all learners.

In today’s lecture I will be teaching us how to differentiate using GOOGLE CLASSROOM

Tips for Differentiated Assignment Directions in Google Classroom

Get specific with your directions!

The more information that is available in Google Classroom, the fewer excuses students have for not completing the assignment and the fewer interruptions you are likely to have.

Attach a rubric if you have one!

Essential Questions
Flexible Learning Paths
Teacher as FacilitatorThe three key areas that can be differentiated:

Content,
Product,
and Process.Long Term Projects, Modifications, or Enrichment

For long-term projects, special projects like Genius Hour, or for students with special modifications, you may consider creating a separate “Class.”

(Note: This is really only worth the time if these groups are long-term, or reused.)Long Term Projects, Modifications, or Enrichment

(Note: This is really only worth the time if these groups are long-term, or reused.)Why differentiate digitally?

Provide Flexible Learning Paths
Develop Future-Ready Skills
Provide an Effective Way to Use Digital Tools FOR Learning (not just an end product)Tips for Group Differentiated Assignments in Google Classroom

Designate a group leader in the assignment.

The group leader is responsible for creating any new files and “turning in.”

Consider asking students to submit a reflection at the end of group work to help you get the whole picture of the learning process.Student Choice Assignment Tips

Number the assignment and detail the choices in the directions and/or in an attached (view only) document. (Note: This is also great way to use digital learning menus and choice boards.)

Attach links to digital tools that may be offered as a choice for completing the assignment. (Example: Using one of the digital tools below, create a digital story retelling, “The Tell-Tale Heart,” in your own words.)How to Differentiate Questions in Google Forms
Google Forms Branching Tips

Start small, just a few questions.

Map out your branches before you begin.

Utilize the page titles and descriptions to help you organize.

Test it! Then, test it again!

Remember, this type of assessment will not be graded–Assessment FOR Learning!

Your spreadsheet will not be pretty! But that’s okay!

Kids are smart! You must facilitate this type of assessment. Before I continue you will need a physical class 1st or an understanding of Google Classroom to effectively adopt this lecture to use

But I’m not sure some of us have attended my physical class on CREATIVE TECHNOLOGY 😅😬😀Student choice: Use this feature to allow students to select from a menu of choices to demonstrate their learning, then upload the file to the form to submit. The spreadsheet would allow you to see what they select and should be working on during class.

Gamify! What if every correct answer revealed a clue or a puzzle piece? Students could collect and work individually or collaboratively to put together.

Put this feature in students’ hands and let them create something for their class, or another class to teach a skill, or play a game.Hands-on activities

At first this may seem difficult to conduct in an online environment, but it could inspire surprising creativity in your students as they look for household objects to use in artistic or scientific projects. And it will appeal to students who are tactile or kinesthetic learners.

You can use

Google slide
Video instructions
Good drawing to make this realityGame-based learning: Educational games can be used across a range of subjects.

Look for platforms that allow you to monitor students, perhaps even generate reports, to assess learning and where any gaps exist. They can also promote self-paced learning; some games will adjust according to ‘player’ needs.

I use Google slide it’s fun and easy to useConclusion

When it comes to differentiated instruction, it’s important to recognize that instructors aren’t simply content area specialists or evaluators of student work, but, rather, designers of educational experiences,

There’s a lot to learn in this new paradigm of online instruction. Because it’s not important now those not mean we should not learn itLearn
Unlearn
And relearn everyday

Differentiation will help to meet the needs of all learners—even in the digital realm.
